Using bright colors and organic, hand-drawn illustrations to mimic woodblock prints, Hola Lotería is influenced by Mexican culture and artistry. The smooth lines and bold characteristics of the typeface contrast with the organic shapes of the illustrations.
Hola Lotería pays tribute to Mexican-American culture by combining the old and new. The original Lotería game (a version of bingo) blends with new illustrations inspired by iconic figures in Mexican history. Hola Lotería originated as a graphic design class project that explored how design systems of color, typography, and iconography work together and separately in playing cards.

In addition to the card deck, I have designed various size prints without playing card characteristics: pips (suit symbols), letters or numbers. All cards and prints can be viewed at holaloteria.com.
